1903 | For a century «with pleasure»
A compulsory reference for all the residents of Bilbao and all the people who visit our city…
The Café Iruña located in front of the famous “Jardines de Albia”, was inaugurated on July 7, 1903 by the great Navarrese promoter Sir Severo Unzue Donamaría. Its original layout of 300 square meters of floor plan draw attention, it is subdivided into different spaces in which the quality of its tiles and the unique Mudejar-inspired decoration stand out, with polychrome ceilings and an abundant collection of mural paintings, recently restored.

Thanks to its unbeatable location, the extent of its rooms, the variety of its «meticulous hotel services» (in the words of Severo Unzue himself) and above all its constant dedication to the dynamization of socio-cultural, playful and festive life, the Café Iruña is a must for all “bilbaínos” and how many people visit our city.

But among the official recognitions include the declaration as a “Singular Monument“, of which it was the object in 1980, and the Special Prize for the Best Coffee in Spain 2000, granted by the prestigious “Café Crème Guide to the Cafés of Europe” published in London under the supervision of Roy Ackerman.
